Certain dramatic moments in history reveal the tensions that have always marked Jewish life.Using texts from medieval Spain, modern Germany, and contemporary America, we will explore how Jewish thinkers and communities faced the challenges of redefining Jewish identity and maintaining the sense of "being at home" in remarkably different situations.
