Abraham smashed idols, according to the midrash. What are the "idols" we can smash today in the organized Jewish community? What sacred cows exist in Jewish life and what are we going to do about them? Recognizing that yesterday's models don't necessarily work for today's Jewish community, we'll explore demographics, trends, and innovative models for connecting people to Jewish life. We'll challenge assumptions and encourage outside the box thinking. Laura will share her own experiences as a founding rabbi of a successful online synagogue with global reach - and will talk about both the practical aspects and philosophical values that can inform new models of Jewish community.
